Rosa Parks Museum, Troy University and Civil Rights - On Jackie Robinson day in Major League Baseball, the day MLB celebrates Jackie's breaking the color barrier in the league, Dr. Felicia Bell sits with Dr. Richard Ledet and Pete A Turner.
Quick note: Every year Pete makes us read Joe Posnanski's piece on how improbably Jackie Robinson's career in the MLB really was...and how close we came to a different history. Dr. Bell directs Troy University's, Rosa Parks Museum in Montgomery Alabama. The museum is located on the site of Mrs. Parks' arrest on Dec 1st, 1955 for not moving to the back of the bus. Rosa, Jackie (who also has a bus seat moment that changed the US military's stance on race) and his wife Rachel, are elemental in the civil right movement in the US. We're proud to celebrate Rosa's life with this episode. Jon Leon Guerrero provides a thoughtful introduction to lead off the episode. #episode #podcast #civilrights #troyuniversity #rosaparks #phds #Bids #bestofthenet #bestpodcast #42 #jackierobinson Similar episodes: Bob Kendrick Dres pt1 Dres - Pt 2 |
