Richard Lyons - DNA of Democracy, Understanding the History of Politics - Here's an excerpt from one of Richard's poems.
But surely, as we all may also know, In one’s family we are sometimes opposed, As in our nation, is it not always so? Conservatives and liberals stand as foes But by the law of the land, we are composed. We are joined by our laws and testaments, As our alliance is by treaties and covenants, Whereby man reconciles with his opposite, In a manner which strives to be harmonic. A means whereby man overcomes his disputes, In the communion of his common virtues! The better a nation is woven with justice With governance reconciling its opposites, The more a nation is liable to flourish, For its strengths are peacefully replenished! Note, the contrariety of Earth’s basic elements, Their reconcilement keeps life youthful and fresh! And reconcilement of the world’s opposed poles, Is what balances Earth’s motion as a globe!
