WWII Vet Survived the Sinking of the USS Indianapolis - Today we sing the song of Harold Bray who survived the sinking of the USS Indianapolis in WWII. The "Indy" delivered "Little Boy" the atomic bomb which ultimately was dropped on Hiroshima in Japan, hastening the end of World War II.
Harold's mates here sunk by a Japanese sub. This by itself isn't shocking given the war...the hard part is nobody knew, 800+ sailors survived the sinking only to die waiting for a rescue...yet nobody knew they were gone. another 500+ sailors died waiting to be accidentally discovered.
Harold is from Benicia! Pete and Jon's hometown. Also in this episode is a life-long friend of Pete, Curt Dunaway. The 4 fellas sit down and fill in the blanks after 70 years. There are 13 men left from that July day in 1945.

I would love to meet Mr. Bray in person. It would just be an honor to me. I have read and listened to his story of that fateful day and i just go numb. I served in Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003 to 2004 and nothing goes close to what Mr. Bray experienced.
